Presidential staffer, Stanislove Xoese Dogbe, has descended heavily on the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of masterminding a publication by the New Free Press that some key personnel at the Castle have purchased an Oxygen Tank worth $70, 000 to be used by President Mills.
The publication which was first posted on Ghanaweb titled: “Mills Spends $70,000 On Oxygen Chamber ?” alleged that Mr Alex Segbefia deputy Chief of Staff, and Stan Dogbe – both aides to the president – have ordered a hydraulic oxygen chamber from the USA.
The publication said: “This oxygen chamber, which was ordered on the 18th of February 2012 from a company in the USA called Mediconet that manufactures hypabaric chambers is to be installed in the basement of the castle’s west wing to be used by President Mills.”
But reacting to the allegations on XYZ News, Stan Dogbe chided the NPP for championing such untruths against members of the Mills-led administration.
He said “sometimes when there are some sick minds who quite clearly have their own challenges as far as our political situation is concerned and the pressure is piling up on them to come out clean and defend their statements, their pronouncements and the doctored economic figures that they’ve thrown out into the public domain, they will surely want to divert attention.”
Denying ever purchasing any such oxygen chamber, Mr Dogbe said “quite clearly I am not a medical doctor, neither am I a paramedic so what business would I have purchasing an oxygen chamber. I do not even know what it is used for.”
He said this is the third of such false stories that have been placed on the said website and that if the NPP wants to lead the nation, they should be ready to debate issues and stop diverting attention from critical analysis.
Asked why he thought the opposition NPP was behind the allegation, Stan Dogbe stated “that has been their trademark,. They started with some media groupings they were using to spread all kinds of falsehood about how some media persons were being paid $ 20,000 to talk and speak for the administration.”
Mr Dogbe added that the newspaper quoted as the source of the story (New Free Press) is non-existent and is being used by some miscreants to peddle falsehood about the current administration.
