Give the government the peace to deliver

Alhaji Muktar Bamba, Deputy Minister for presidential Affairs, had stated that given the peace, Ghanaians would begin to realise in 2002 what the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government could do.

He said, even as at now, the government had been able to bring down inflation leading to the reduction in interest rates .

Alhaji Bamba was speaking at the inauguration of the Asafo Market branch of “Positive Vision,” a women’s wing of the NPP in Kumasi at the weekend.

The Deputy Minister noted that the government has also increased the producer price of cocoa to put a lot more money into the hands of cocoa farmers and restored the rule of law.

Alhaji Bamba noted that these were great changes that had given the people a new lease of life.

Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, commended the women for coming together to help each other.

He asked them to remain united devoid of rancour, undermining and power struggle and work hard to support the government to lead the country to prosperity.

Mr Yaw Adjei Britwum, Subin Constituency Chairman of the NPP, who inaugurated the association asked the members to embark on educational programmes to explain government policies and programmes to the people.

He asked them and other Ghanaians to be law-abiding and also try to honour their tax obligations at all times.

Madam Gladys Opoku-Agyeman, Chairperson of “Positive Vision”, appealed to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) to rehabilitate some market stores at the Asafo market, which she said had leaking roofs and cracked walls and floors.

She also stressed the need for the KMA to prevail on traders squatting at the Kejetia terminal and the Central Markets to move to fill the empty spaces in the market.

Madam Opoku Agyeman said the movement, which had over 400 members, was aimed at mobilising more women to improve on their living standards in order to ensure the development and survival of their children.

She said it was also aimed at mobilising women to support the ruling government to realise its objectives and accelerate the socio-economic development of the people.

Other Executive members of the Association were Madam Grace Owusu, Secretary, Madam Konadu Brentuo, Treasurer and Miss Doris Nkrumah, Organiser.
