A magistrate’s court at Ajumako, has remanded four hunters into prison custody, over the death of Kwesi Okwan, 40, in a group hunting.
Kofi Ansah, 21, Nana Amoako, 21, Kweku Abakah, 18 and Kwabena Ako, 30 would reappear in court on March 2.
Two other hunters, James Atta, 58, and Ato Kwamena, 15, are in police custody, to help the security agents in investigating the tragedy and to arrest Kwesi Essuman, suspected to have killed Okwan.
Police Inspector Bismark Appiah told the court presided over by Madam Patience Ablorh that at about 0800 hours on February 14, all the hunters, including Okwan, all residents of Enyan Abaasa, left for hunting expedition.
The prosecution said Essuman mistook Okwan for a game and shot him at the back, and the victim died when the group was carrying him to a herbalist for treatment.
Insp. Appiah said the hunters deposited the body of Okwan in the bush, and returned to town and did not report the case to anyone.
The court heard that the Regent of Enyan Abaasa, a relative of the deceased, reported to the police that Okwan did not return from the group hunting, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
Insp. Appiah said the suspects admitted the crime.
