Ghana seeks the position of External Auditor at IMO

Mrs Eliezerbeth Nicol, Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to the Uniter Kingdom and Ireland has stated that Ghana has contributed immensely to the work and overall development of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).

Mrs Nicol was speaking on behalf of the High Commissioner, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo, who she explained was invited at a short notice to Ghana, at a reception hosted for the delegation of the IMO at the Ghana mission in London.

The Deputy High Commissioner announced that Ghana has offered its candidature to be considered for the position of the External Auditor of the IMO.

She extolled the long standing contribution to the IMO and Ghana’s expertise over the years which makes Ghana an ideal candidate for the position of External Auditor for the organisation:

“Ghana has decided to offer its candidature for the position of External Auditor of the International Maritime Organization. Ghana is offering itself for the position because it believes strongly that it has something to offer by way of qualification, expertise and the dedication to duty which it hopes would contribute immensely to the overall development of the IMO.”

The Deputy Commissioner observed that Ghana’s “commitment to the work of the IMO is exemplified by the many years of participation in the work of the esteemed organization at various levels of its deliberations.”

According to Mrs Nicol, “Ghana has participated effectively in various committees and sub-committees and hosted a number of seminars and conferences on behalf of the sub-region in furtherance of the work of the IMO.”

Dignitaries who attended the reception included Mr. Peter Azumah, Director General, Ghana Maritime Authority, Mr. Nestor Percy Galley, Director General, Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Alhaji Asuma Banda, Chairman of Ghana Ship Owners Association, Mr. Kofi Mbeah, CEO, Ghana Shippers Authority and Chairman of IMO Legal Council, Mr. Richard Quartey, Auditor General of Ghana and a team from Ghana’ s parlaiment.
