Asantehene To Be Honoured With Doctorate Degree

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is to be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in acknowledgement of his dedication to progress and development of Asanteman and the entire country. The honorary doctorate degree to be conferred by the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) was decided on by the University Council, Academic Board and other boards of the University.

The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor John Sefah Kwadwo Ayim, announced the decision at a gathering of chiefs at the Manhyia palace in Kumasi. The honorary degree would be conferred on 1st December at a special congregation to honour him at the university campus.

The Asantehene is being recognized for his efforts at working to restore honour and dignity to the chieftaincy institution as well as creating an education fund in the hope of making formal education more accessible.
