Takoradi Polytechnic to begin oil and gas programs

Takoradi, Oct. 7, GNA 97 Takoradi Polytechnic would soon begin new programmes in oil and gas to train more people to work in the petroleum industry.

As a result of this, four lecturers of the polytechnic have already undergone a programme in the United Kingdom to assist in the teaching of the course. The Rector of the polytechnic, Professor Daniel Nyarko said this at the 21st Matriculation Ceremony of the school in Takoradi on Friday.

He said the polytechnic would soon cut the sod for the construction of a building, which would pave the way for the commencement of the study of the Process Engineering and Instrumentation and Control programmes. Prof Nyarko used the occasion to express appreciation to Aktech Supplies and Logistics for the donation of ten laptops for the programme.

He appealed to all well meaning Ghanaians and organizations to come to their aid in their quest to provide opportunities for the youth.

He urged the fresh students to be diligent in their studies to merit the opportunity offered them by the polytechnic. The Western Regional Minister, Mr Paul Evans Aidoo, in a speech read for him charged the newly inducted students to set high academic and moral standards and work diligently towards achieving their goals in life.

Mr Aidoo entreated the students to strive and acquire knowledge and skills that would enable them help solve societal challenges to make the world a better place to live. 7 Oct. 11
