Security personnel intercept ammunition at Bawku–Napanduri post

Tamale, Aug. 23, GNA – Personnel from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) in the Northern Region have confiscated about 1,000 pieces of short gun cartridges at a road checkpoint on the Bawku–Napanduri road.

They were concealed in yazz sanitary pad boxes.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Tamale, Mr Kweku Amaning Asamoah-Twum, Sector Commander for Northern Region, said on Sunday, August 14, this year, personnel on duty at the Napanduri barrier stopped the vehicle and during a search saw the boxes and asked the owners to open them for inspection.

The suspects, however, took to their heels.

Mr Asamoah-Twum said his outfit was collaborating with other security agencies and stakeholders to complement government’s efforts to maintain peace in the area.
