Anyidoho must admit his mistakes – Kweku Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Malik Kwaku Baako has described the threat by Director of Communications at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho to personally deal with Peacefmonline.com by hauling them to court as an empty one.

According to him, there is no way Mr. Anyidoho will seek any form of redress in court because “he does not have a case”, adding that his attacks on Peacefmonline.com are highly unnecessary.

“Koku’s court threat is an empty threat, how can he think you (Kwami) will start a conspiracy against him?” he said.

Mr. Anyidoho on Tuesday, August 16th, threatened to “personally deal with Peacefmonline.com” for a publication he deemed as “vicious” and “malicious”.

But contributing to discussions on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Morning show, Kwaku Baako said the furore over the “token” three-bedroom complex for the security detail at President Mills’ private residence being put up by real estate developers, Regimanuel Gray Limited, has arisen as a result of inconsistencies in the earlier explanations on the issue.

“The truth of the matter is that he actually said it on Adom FM that it was a token and there was no financial outlay from the president involved and when you say “token”, the first thing that will come into the ordinary Ghanaian’s mind is a “gift”. If a private company doing business in Ghana gives the president a gift, it raises legitimate concerns, but in Koku’s quest to clarify issues, he rather deepened the problem. We have now moved away from token to more of a contractual agreement…to a rental arrangement which contradicts his first response,” he said.

According to Mr. Baako, it is better for the Communications Director at the Presidency to admit his mistakes instead of looking for a fall guy.

“I think he should be honest to admit his mistakes because obviously there were some communication lapses. None of us is infallible, we all make mistakes…There should be an element of honesty and the courage to admit when you have erred…it enhances your integrity rather than attempting to find scapegoats and locking horns with everybody like a bull fighter,” he added.

The seasoned journalist further stated that though he does not doubt the authenticity of the letters provided by the presidency to back the assertion that the facility is a rental agreement, it is practicable that some people might still question its genuineness.

“…if all these information was available, why did Anyidoho talk about ‘token’ in the first place?…there should be communication efficiency and efficacy,” he said.
