Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana celebrates fifth anniversary

Takoradi, Aug 7, GNA – The Most Reverend Dr. Jacob Augustine Welbourne, Archbishop of the Orthodox Anglican Church of Africa, on Sunday called on the government to ensure greater socio-economic justice.

The clergyman said: “As people of faith, we believe we are one family and not competing classes and socio-economic units of statistics”. Archbishop Welbourne, who is also Bishop of the Diocese of Saints Peter and Paul, the Apostles, made the call at the fifth anniversary celebration of the Orthodox Anglican Church of Ghana at Sekondi.

He said the economy must show signs of growth and there should be more equitable distribution of resources and national wealth. Archbishop Welbourne called for the formulation of socio-economic policies that could protect human life, promote strong family ties, expand the middle class, create decent jobs and reduce poverty. He said: “We need to strengthen our sense of community and our pursuit of the common good”.

Archbishop Welbourne said the Church is reserved for the godly and abhors evils such as homosexuality and lesbianism, which are shameful, intrinsically disordered, unhealthy and mortally sinful and against natural law.
