Streamlining Of Admissions To Department Of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

NEWS RELEASE

Subject: Streamlining Of Admissions To Department Of Obstetrics & Gynaecology

RELEASE: IMMEDIATE

Management of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital wishes to inform the general public that the Obstetrics and Gyneacology Department is full beyond its capacity. As a result, the Department would from Tuesday, May 24, 2011, begin streamlining admissions and would not accept patients without proper referrals. It is only duly referred patients who will be accepted for further management. This move has been adopted as a measure of reducing congestion and to ensure proper management of the large number of patients already on admission.

The directive, however, does not affect emergency cases, which will be duly triaged. The Department has a team in place to offer telephonic assistance to practitioners in hospitals/facilities who have the requisite facilities but would be unable to manage complicated cases.

Those in need of such assistance could contact the Department on these numbers: 0307060114, 0307060177 or 0307060142.
