Tullow Ghana organises Health Walk

Accra, May 22, GNA – Tullow Ghana Limited, an oil and gas exploration firm on Saturday organised a Health Walk to create awareness on the importance of regular exercises.

The 14-kilometre walk from Ayi Mensah, off the Accra-Aburi road to the Aburi Botanical Gardens drew participation from staff of Tullow Ghana Limited as well as students from St. Thomas Aquinas Senior High School, Labone Senior High School and Accra Girls Senior High School. Dai Jones, President and General Manager of Tullow Ghana Limited said the walk was to promote health and fitness amongst staff as well as develop collaboration with the selected institutions. He said the essence of the 14-kilometre walk was to highlight the importance of regular exercises and the need for all to stay fit and healthy.

Jones said the event also served as a platform for staff of the company to bond together whilst pledging his outfit’s commitment to the healthy lifestyle of the staff. Prizes were presented to the participants who distinguished themselves in the walk that kicked off at 07h00 GMT. Jones finished first at 08h45 and was presented with a ‘twist and shape stepper’ exercise machine as his prize. Gabriel Owusu Ansah (09h03), Emmanuel Dei (09h03), Joseph Mensah (09h03) and Edmund Duah (09h05) who completed among the top five were also presented with souvenirs.

In the family and friends category, Kwaku A. Bediako (09h02), Joseph Donkoh (09h03), Mrs Quarcoopone (09h18) and Mrs Letsu (09h18) finished in that order. There were also special prizes for Nesta Jones (first female to finish the walk), Felix Agyei of St. Thomas Aquinas (youngest participant) and Nadia Tete of Labone Senior High School. David Kwatia Nyante also received the endurance award. Meanwhile, the three participating Senior High Schools were presented with exercise books for the students.
