Balungu Assemblyman to make education a priority

May 10, 2011 Balungu (UE) May 10, GNA – Mr Edward Asekere Abesiwine, Assemblyman for Balungu in the Bongo District, has pledged to use his term of office to ensure that all children in the community go to school.

Mr Abesiwine, who gave the pledge at a victory rally, used the occasion to thank the electorate for the confidence reposed in him.

He expressed worry about the absence of kindergarten in Balungu as well as the poor nature of roads that made it difficult for pupils to attend school especially during the rainy season.

He said children from Galamgru and Abee-Doone communities travelled more than three kilometres to school because of the lack of kindergarten in their communities.

Mr Abesiwine called on the District Assembly to complete the only kindergarten school block at Amoyaama, being constructed under the Community Based Development Plan.

He urged parents to take advantage of the Government’s free uniform and exercise books policy by sending their children to school.

The Assemblyman noted that children were great assets to the country’s future.

He said the poor nature of the Zorkor- Feo road, had made it a death trap called on the Ghana Feeder Roads Department to repair it to save the people from road accidents.
