Kwahu Abetifi, April 13, GNA – Nana Akyemfuo Asiedu Agyeman III, Kwahu Adontehene and Omanhene of Abetifi, on Wednesday, appealed to the government to help develop touristic areas in their community to create more job opportunities to the people.
He noted that developing these could bring more tourists to the area resulting in increased revenue for more developmental projects, thus creating jobs, especially for the youth.
Nana Agyeman was speaking at a durbar of chiefs and people of Abetifi to welcome the new Eastern Regional Minister, Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, who was on a working visit to the place to introduce himself to them.
He also called on government to introduce modern technologies in fish farming to the youth to assist those of them who wanted to go into the business.
He observed that a lot of the youth in the community who lives near the rivers were interested in fish farming since it was a lucrative venture. Nana Agyeman appealed to the government to complete the water project it had initiated in the area to help solve acute water problems facing the people. He commended the District Chief Executive, Mr Samuel Asamoah, for helping bring more projects to the area. Dr Apea-Kubi called on the people to help him maintain peace and stability in the region. He observed that a country could not develop without peace and therefore asked everyone to play his role of maintaining peace in the region and the country as a whole.
Dr Apea-Kubi assured the chiefs and the people that he would ensure that the region always had its fair share of the national cake and whatever was meant for the Kwahu East would be given to them. He reiterated the government’s commitment to provide more projects in the communities to increase job opportunities. The Minister advised the DCE to fight for what belonged to his assembly to bring more developmental projects to the area and commended him for completing 40 out of the 87 projects in the area.
