Agona East Presiding cautions assembly against partisanship

Agona Nsaba (C/R), March 20, GNA – The Presiding Member of Agona East Assembly, Mr Samuel Richard Ziggah, has called on assembly members to make meaningful decisions that would help the growth and development of their areas.

Mr Ziggah, who is a lecturer at the Department of Psychology and Education of the University of Education, Winneba, made the call in an interview with Ghana News Agency in Nsaba. He said he believed that when members put aside their political sentiments, and let the interest of their areas prevailed, they could work as a team towards the growth of their districts. He said the Agona East area lacked many amenities, including roads to the hinterlands, schools infrastructure, electricity in some communities and accommodation for newly posted staff to the assembly and health facilities.

He said the government alone could not provide all these needs, suggesting that, they needed to sell the district to the outside world under the sister city concept to find partnership for development. Mr Ziggah appealed to the assembly members to look for more avenues to generate funds to increase their revenue to supplement the Common Fund for development projects.

He said he would initiate a welfare association for the members to support each other in times of crisis. The PM said his doors were opened to all for constructive criticisms, which would be used for the benefit of the lot. 20 March 11
