UEW launches Research policy

Winneba(C/R) Feb 23, GNA – The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Akwasi Asabere-Ameyaw, has said quality of graduate and undergraduate teaching would be enhanced by the participation of faculty in research and other creative work in fields related to those they are teaching.

Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw said this when he launched a policy on research to guide both staff and students of the University in their research. He said the policy document would not only guide staff in their research but would also to make them aware of the structures and systems for managin= g research.

It was attended by the Registrar Mr. Christopher Akwaa-Mensah, Deans of Faculties, Directors, lecturers and students of the University. Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw said in an attempt to build a research culture in line with the University’s research mission, as well as to standardize th= e various research activities within UEW, 93it has become necessary for the University to formally operate a policy on research that will guide both staff and students in their research endeavours”.

Prof. Asabere-Ameyaw expressed the hope that the policy document would provide the University with the supportive conditions and organizational structures that are necessary for quality research. He said the policy would drive the research agenda within the University and ensure transparency of the University’s research to achieve a proper balance between research and teaching.

The Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to the Association of Commonwealth Universities for granting 24,000 dollars to implement two projects to improve research and research management structures in the University. 24 Feb. 11
