BAYA not happy with NPP leaders’ comments on proposed university

Sunyani (B/A), Feb. 16, GNA – The Brong Ahafo Youth Association (BAYA), has asked the New Patriotic Party faithful to condemn the comments made by Mr Ambrose Dery and Dr Arthur Kennedy on the establishment of a public university in the region.

The two are leading members of the New Patriotic Party, the largest opposition party in Ghana.

A statement issued in Sunyani and signed by Mr Charles Baffour-Diawuoh, interim Secretary of the Association said, 93We are not happy about certain comments made by the Honorable Members of Parliament about the establishment of a university in the region.

“Indeed the people in the region have not taken kindly to those uncomplimentary remarks from these people. The people of Brong Ahafo also deserve their fair share of the national cake.

“That the NPP government was in power for eight years and could not establish any university in any part of the country. They have no moral right to chastise President Mills for establishing a university in any part of the country”, the statement said.

It continued: 93What these people should realize is the fact that a university established in the region does not necessarily mean the university belongs to Brong Ahafo”.

“The Association has observed that it is under the reign of the NDC government that the region has witnessed tremendous development.

“BAYA wishes to express its deep gratitude and appreciation to President Atta Mills and the NDC government on the establishment of the University of Energy and Natural Resources on the soil of Brong Ahafo”, t= he statement added.
