Gomoa Abora marks Akwanbo festival with inauguration of projects

Gomoa Abora (C/R), Feb. 3, GNA – The people of Gomoa Abora near Apam have celebrated their annual Akwanbo festival with the inauguration of a number of development projects. The projects included toilet facilities donated by Nana Hammah V, Chie= f of the town and his nephew known as Ben Gee, owner of a furniture manufacturing company in Accra. Inaugurating the projects, Mrs Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister, who is a citizen of the town, expressed joy that the youth were taking keen interest in the development of the town. Mrs Benyiwa-Doe called on them to emulate the example of their counterparts in Abora and go back to their communities to facilitate development.

“The witches and wizards who you fear would destroy you when you go to your communities are all dead,” the Regional Minister said, adding that “you can now go and put up mansions in your communities without fear”. Mr George Blankson, Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Agency who is the elder brother of the chief- Nana Hammah, pledged to put up a four-unit block with office, toilet and dinning room for the town’s kindergarten. Nana Hammah appealed to the government to provide the area with a wate= r facility to ensure all- year- farming.

The chief said the erratic weather pattern of the community was not helping farmers to come out of poverty. He said the town would honour citizens who had made meaningful contributions to the development of the area to serve as motivation for others.
