Minister says telecom companies must pay for painting structures

Koforidua, Dec.22, GNA – The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, has appealed to Municipal and District Assemblies to collect levies from telecommunication companies for painting structures with their logos. Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo said painting of structures by the telecommunication companies was for advertisement and not for beautification. He also urged the Assemblies to collect rates from those companies for mounting masts in their districts.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was speaking at Koforidua at a Public Education forum on electromagnetic fields and health, organized by the Ghana Investment Fun= d for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). He commended GIFEC for the education programme and appealed to all telecommunication companies to reach out to rural communities where information is inaccessible so that they would also benefit from the information given to those in the urban areas.
