Village Submerged By Floods

Kwabaah (E/R), – 8 June Almost half of Kwabaa, a town in the West Akyem district, was submerged in floods early yesterday morning following several hours of rainfall the previous night. More than 15 houses were destroyed by the floods and dozens of

others are in danger of collapsing. The situation was compounded by the Ayensu river which runs through the town and which overflowed its banks. No casulties were reported but many people lost their personal belongings. About 100 inhabitants who have been rendered homeless are being sheltered by friends and relations. The floods also rendered the road which passes through the town to Nyanoa, a food producing area, unmotorable. The town can now be reached through the central region.
