Police commander calls for peace in Awutu-Senya

Senya Beraku (C/R), Aug. 26, GNA – The Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police David Neenyi Ampah-Bennin, has appealed to citizens of the Awutu-Senya District to put aside their political sentiment and come together as one people to develop the area.

He said this at a durbar to climax activities marking the Annual Akomase Festival of the chiefs and people of the area on Tuesday.

The theme for celebration was 93Uniting the people for a better community development”.

The people used the festival to take stock of their activities and plan for the year ahead and also perform some rituals for bumper fish and food harvest.

Mr Ampah-Bennin said it was only through peace that development could take place.

Mr Kwame Onassis Anderson, Chairman of Senya Urban Council, called for the expansion and up-grading of the Senya Health Centre to a hospital.

He also called for a laboratory, ambulance and qualified personnel to man the Centre and also appealed to the government to improve facilities at the Senya Senior School.

Mr Anderson said more police personnel should be posted to the Senya Beraku Police Station since the three men at the station cannot cope with the work load.
