Akufo-Addo calls for unity and support for NPP’s elected flagbearer

Tema, July 26, GNA – Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, an aspirant of the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) has underscored the need for members and supporters of the party to close their ranks and forge ahead in unity.

By so doing, he said, members could, in a collective manner, pursue the aims and aspirations of the party to recapture power in 2012.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the call, when he toured the Tema East, Ashaiman and Kpone Katamanso Constituencies, to interact with delegates in the upcoming elections to choose their presidential candidate.

He said: “Ghana needs a united NPP to come back to power in 2012.”

He reminded the aspirants and the entire membership of NPP that they owed it a duty to rally solidly behind any of the five aspirants who emerges as the people’s choice, on August 7, to assist him in his campaign tours to convince Ghanaians why they should return the party to power.

Mr Alan Kyerematen, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng, Mr Isaac Osei and the Reverend Kwame Kodua are his changers in the primaries.

Nana Akufo-Addo pointed out that NPP’s victory in 2012 would depend largely on members at the grassroots, especially polling station executives, who would be doing most of the campaign at the local level.

On the performance of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) Nana Akufo-Addo said it has failed to fulfil any of its campaign promises.

Other top members of the party on Nana Akufo-Addo’s entourage, who also addressed the polling station executives, in the three constituencies, included Mr Yaw Osafo-Marfo, Sheik I.C. Quaye, Mr Ishmael Ashietey, Mr Kennedy Ohene-Agyepong and Mr Boakye Agyarko.

They were of the consensus that Nana Akufo-Addo, who has over the years endeared himself to the party, and sacrificed for its survival, was the right candidate for August 7.

They, therefore, urged the delegates to vote massively for him to ensure the NPP’s victory in 2012.
