Angolan President departs after two-day State visit

Accra, June 22, GNA – Angolan President Eduardo Dos Santos, left Accra on Tuesday morning after a two-day State visit, at the invitation of President John Evans Atta Mills. He was accompanied by his wife, Ana Paula, and a high level government delegation.

President Dos Santos on his maiden visit to Ghana, called on President Mills at the Jubilee House, attended a luncheon at the Osu Castle, and laid a wreath at the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum. At the end of the visit, the two leaders signed a memorandum of understanding and re-affirmed the long standing cordial relations between the two countries.

He was seen off by President Mills, Ministers of State, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and other dignitaries. Before departure, President Dos Santos and his Ghanaian counterpart, received the Presidential salute, inspected a guard of honour mounted by 96 men and three officers form First Infantry Battalion and 48 Engineers Regiment under the command of Captain Baah Acheamfour, with the Ghana Army Central Band in attendance.
