Father rapes his three-year old daughter

Awutu Beraku (C/R), May 28, GNA – The Awutu Beraku Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Ebenezer Osei Darkor, on Wednesday remanded a 55-year old father at Kasoa in prison custody, for allegedly defiling his two biological children.

Kojo Kuntor pleaded guilty and the court ordered him to re-appear before it on June 9, 2010.

The prosecution, Police Chief Inspector Helena Aidoo, told the court that the complainant, Doris Amakyi, 38, is a mother of two, aged two and a half months and three years, while Kuntor the accused person is their father.

The prosecution said the mother, a petty trader, claimed that whenever she left the children in the house, to undertake her daily trading activities, she returned home to see her husband ‘fingering’ or defiling the children.

Chief Inspector Aidoo said the complainant said Mr Kuntor, unemployed, threatened to kill her if she makes attempt to tell anybody about his illicit dealing with the children.

The prosecution said on May 2, 2010, at about 0500 hours, Madam Amakyi went to fetch water from a nearby house, and on her return saw her husband defiling the elder daughter.

Chief Inspector Aidoo said Madam Amakyi, who could no long put up with the habit of the husband, reported the matter to the Kasoa police, and he was arrested.

According to the prosecution the girl was issued with a police medical report for examination. The prosecution said the examination by a medical officer at Kasoa indicated that the girl had been defiled resulting in a broken hymen.
