Apam (C/R), March 22, GNA – The Gomoa west District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has expressed concern about the state of security at Apam and urged the police to be up and doing before things ge= t out of hand. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said thieves in the area had made electric cables, sheep and goats as their targets. Speaking to newsmen at Apam, the DCE said for the past two months electricity cables around his residence had been stolen on three occasion= s compelling the Assembly to replace them at a huge cost. He advised the opinion leaders, particularly the chief, to form watch-dog committees to assist the police in protecting life and property= .. The DCE advised the Ghana Private Road Transport Union to examine th= e luggage of people who board their vehicles, especially taxis. Mr Aidoo-Mensah said the Assembly would ensure that the law is stric= tly applied on any driver caught condoning with thieves by carting stolen ite= ms. He advised chop-bar operators and other food vendors to buy animals from people who rear them, rather than buy dead animals stacked in sacks. 22 March 10
