CDD-Ghana welcomes Constitutional Review Commission

Accra, Jan. 14, GNA – The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) on Thursday welcomed the inauguration of the Constitutional Review Committee, commending government for taking such an important step.

“The inauguration of the Commission fulfils the Mills-NDC administration’s pledge to initiate a process of constitutional review within the first year of its tenure of office in response to calls by some sections of the public for a re-examination of some provisions of the constitution,” said a statement issued by CDD-Ghana in Accra. CDD-Ghana congratulated members of the Commission on their appointment, and openness to a wide range of views and opinions from all Ghanaians including Ghanaians in the Diaspora.

“We hope that the constitutional review exercise results in the reinforcement of the principles of democracy, good governance and social justice that lie at the core of the 1992 Constitution,” it said. The statement said the Centre looked forward to working with the Commission. 14 Jan. 10
