REP presents start-up kits to 30 graduate apprentices

Juaso (Ash), Oct. 28, GNA – The Rural Enterprises Project (REP) in collaboration with the Asante Akim South District Assembly have presented=

start-up kits worth GH¢10,000 to 30 graduate apprentices in the distric= t. Among the beneficiaries who received the kits to enable them start their own businesses were auto mechanics, general electricians, hairdressers, masons, barbers and dressmakers. Mr. De-graft Fokuo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the assembly was committed to improving the living condition of the people through provision of socio-economic infrastructure and services. He said the assembly, in collaboration with REP, had since January, 2008 trained 428 people made up of 383 women and 45 men in soap making, batik, tie and dye, grass cutter rearing and hairdressing. Mr. Fokuo appealed to banks in the district to reduce interests on their loan facilities to attract small-scale businesses to access their products. 28 Oct 09
