Splinter disability groups affecting fund disbursement

Akatsi, Sep 19, GNA – The multiplicity of associations representing the physically challenged is giving assemblies difficulty in disbursing the two percent common fund meant for the disabled. Mr Edwin Avornyo, Volta Regional Secretary of the Ghana Association of the Physically Challenged, said this at a workshop on the Disability Law at Akatsi in the Volta Region.

He appealed to the physically challenged to guard against the formation of splinter associations which tended to weaken their front in the fight for their rights and wellbeing. Mr Avornyo advised them to fight for job protection under the law and stop begging.

Mr Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, the Akatsi District Chief Executive, appealed to the physically challenged to see themselves as having the potential to be as productive as others and therefore apply themselves to productive activities.
