Question marks have been raised about the secrecy surrounding the sale of the bussing and operational vehicle units of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) to Agate Transport Services, a private company, believed to have a godfather among the top management of the Social Security Bank (SSB).
Agate, which runs transport services for SSB staff, on paper, is owned by one Samuel Adu Gyamfi and his wife, Josephine Adu Gyamfi, but the Chronicle has been reliably informed that there is more to it than meets the eye.
The management of GCB reportedly refused the offer of former drivers to pay half of the cost of 862 million cedis to be part owners and even brushed aside the bid of KOPATEC, another company, only to hand it over on silver platter to Agate for a deposit of 100 million cedis.
