Berekum NHIS calls for accreditation of more pharmacies

Berekum (B/A), June 25, GNA – Mr. Paul Asante, acting Manager of Berekum Municipal Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, has appealed to the National Health Insurance Authority to speed up with the accreditation of pharmacies and chemical stores that had applied in the municipality. He told the GNA in an interview that only one pharmacy is serving the municipality.

Mr. Asante said “Due to the delay in accreditation some chemical stores have even failed to apply whilst those who applied but were refused have refused to reapply.”

The acting manager said the situation had put pressure on the only pharmacy operating in the municipality as it cannot serve clients to their satisfaction. Mr. Asante appealed to the insurance authorities to do their best and provide accreditation to more chemical stores to encourage other pharmacies and chemical stores to apply. 25 June 09
