Minister gives amount spent on transition process

Accra, June 17, GNA – The total expenditure for the entire transitional process, following the change in government, amounted to 361,924.41 Ghana cedis, Dr Kwabena Duffuor, Finance Minister said in Parliament on Wednesday.

Giving the breakdown, he said a total of 208,800.00 Ghana cedis was spent as honoraria for members of the Transitional Team with the Chairman of the team being paid an amount of 2,250.00 Ghana cedis and two supporting staff getting 3,600.00 cedis. Dr Duffuor was responding to a question on the total amount spent on the entire transitional process following the NDC 2008 election victory.

The Minister said the seven sub-committee chairmen took home a total of 12,600,00 cedis and the honoraria of the 141 members of the team amounted to 190,350.00 cedis.

“Madam Speaker, refreshment, water, tea and snack, and lunch for the transitional team members, security, volunteers, invitees and the press amounted to 135,316.30 Ghana cedis.”

The Minister said expenditure on office equipment totalled 15,024.01 and expenditure on stationery was 2,784.10 cedis. In response to another question on the divestiture of state-owned enterprises as at December 31, 2008, the Minister said the total number of divested state-owned enterprises as at the end December 2008 was 367.
