PTA to build administrative block for Bisease SHS

Bisease (C/R), May 23, GNA – The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Co-ordinating Director, Mr J. K. Kussiachin has appealed to the government, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to consider reintroducing the thirty percent community admission in the selection of students to the Senior High School (SHS). Mr Kussiachin said this was to ensure that children or relatives of traditional rulers and land owners who had given large tracks of land for the construction of the existing High Schools to also benefit from their good intensions.

He was speaking at the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of a two-storey Administration Block complex for the Bisease SHS at Ajumako Bisease on Thursday. The Project, which is estimated to cost GH¢ 3,600.00, would be financed through special levies of GH¢8.00 per student per term. The District Director of Education, Mr Isaac Amonoo commended the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of the School and the traditional authorities for their efforts in providing the school with some of its needs.

He advised the PTA and the school authorities to ensure that all school lands are properly demarcated, documented and registered. Mr Amonoo called on philanthropists to contribute towards the Education Endowment Fund to support brilliant but needy children from the area.

Mr Mark H. Mensah, headmaster of the school said the school started with 100 students as a private school, but now has a student population of 1212. The PTA chairman, Mr John Amoah said they have been able to provide the school with some of its basic needs, including a new bus, chairs and table, a classroom block and a four-bed room bungalow. The Presiding Member of the District Assembly, Mr Atto Quarshie, who chaired the function, promised that the Assembly would give the needed assistance to ensure the completion of the project on schedule.
