Pupils show ‘thirst’ for library books

Ho, March 27, GNA – Pupils of Ho-Fiave E.P. Primary School seemed ‘thirsty’ for story books when they jostled head-over-heels and with outstretched hands grabbed copies of story books from a donor, Mrs Helen Seglah.

Mrs Seglah who was overwhelmed by the numbers and enthusiasm of the pupils reaching for the books showed approval with a grin. She and her husband Edem resident in the United Kingdom were in the school to present an initial 150 assorted story books towards promoting leisure reading among the pupils. The couple hoped the school would build a library for more books in future.

Mr Seglah said they had presented about 2,000 story books donated by friends in the UK to Mamprobi E.P. Schools which had established a library with a fulltime librarian. He said similar donations were made to Srogbe East Ridge E.P. JSS and Alakple R.C. Primary School in the Keta District. Ms Elizabeth Adonu, Headmistress of Fiave E.P. Primary School thanked the donors and urged them to evaluate the performance of the pupils from their gesture. She said the school’s library was being used as a classroom and work on one of the classrooms would be completed soon to release the library for its purpose.
