Christian groups urged to play positive roles to development

Kumasi, March 6, GNA – Apostle F.E. Antwi, the Asokwa Area Overseer of the Church of Pentecost in Kumasi, has stressed the need for Christian associations to make positive contributions toward development of Churches and the country. He noted that Christians as agents of change should live exemplary lives and evangelise to win more souls for Christ to help transform society.

Apostle Antwi was inaugurating the Asokwa branch of the church of Pentecost Professional Ladies Association in Kumasi at the weekend. The inauguration, the first of its kind in the Church in Ghana, was under the theme: “Serving the Unchanging God in a Changing World”. He commended the formation of the association and hoped that their activities would become permanent feature to promote the well being and development of women in the church and society as a whole. Apostle Antwi urged members of the association to work as a team and deliberate on issues that avoid rivalry and conflicts among them to enable it grow from strength to strength.

Mrs Beatrice Kwaffo, the International Women’s Director of the Association, said the members comprised teachers, doctors, nurses and many other professionals. The aim, she said is to mobilize women to play vital roles towards development of the church. She said the association would organise periodic seminars and tours to create awareness among Christian women. Mrs Kwaffo said the association has under its ambit, a ministry of business women, widows, and HIV/AIDS Patients that hoped to make positive impact towards improving the status of women. Mrs Victoria Aboah was elected Chairperson with Mrs Grace Frimpong as Vice-Chairperson.
