Gomoa Dawurampong, Jan 21, GNA – Mr. Francis Kojo Arthur, Member of Parliament (MP) for Gomoa East, has appealed to Ghanaians to put behind them the outcome of the 2008 election and rally behind MPs and the government to develop their communities and the nation. “Let us all put aside our party affiliations and unite to develop our communities and the nation,” he said at a thanksgiving service for a peaceful election at a Catholic church at Dawurampong.
“This is not time for people to sit on the fence because they do not belong to the party of the ruling government.” “Since we all pay the same price for goods and services, it enjoins us to rally behind the government to improve conditions of living in the country. Development does not come from one person but through concerted efforts,” he said.
Mr. Arthur mentioned education, agriculture and health as priority areas he would pay attention to.
“Farming and fishing which are the main sources of employment for the people of the area are on the verge of collapse due to bad practices and lack of support,” he said and added that he would impress upon the government to take a critical look at those areas.
He said he would also solicit for investment for the area. Rev. Fr. Joseph Yankson, Rector of the church, commended Ghanaians for comporting themselves before, during and after the election. He prayed for wisdom and God’s guidance for the President, Ministers, Metropolitan/Municipal/District Chief Executive and Members of Parliament in the discharge of their duties.
