EC appealed to declare parliamentary results of Asutifi South

Kenyasi (B/A), Dec. 11, GNA – The National Democratic Congress in Asutifi South constituency of Brong-Ahafo has challenged the Electoral Commission (EC) to declare the results of the area’s Parliamentary elections to sustain the relative peace in the area.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Mr. Collins Dauda, incumbent Member of Parliament, said the delay and failure of the Commission to announce the results could enable the NPP “to manipulate, rig and capture the seat from the NDC”.

The Asutifi District office of the EC has halted the declaration of the results, which are under serious public scrutiny.

The NPP candidate, Mr Boakye Boateng, claims the signatory on the declaration form did not belong to the party’s agent and doubts the authenticity of the results at the Twabidi number one polling station in the constituency.

The headquarters of the EC delegated Mr Samuel Ntow, Deputy Director, Research and Monitoring of the Commission who met with the representatives of the NPP, NDC, DPP and the district office of the Commission at Kenyasi to solve the problem.

After more than five hours of deliberations amid intense military and police presence Mr Ntow ordered that the ballot papers be sent to the EC headquarters for rectification.

He asked the NPP, NDC, and the DPP to delegate a representative each to monitor the outcome of the results in Accra.
