Akufo-Addo cautions media to be circumspect

Accra, Dec. 7, GNA – The campaign office of Nana Akufo-Addo on Sunday cautioned the media to be wary of “unscrupulous politicians who want to use the media to promote their own parochial agenda”. In a statement issued by Mustapha Hamid, Spokesperson for Nana Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the media should also “serve as a filter for filtering substance from chaff”.

“From the beginning of the contest until now, the media has often times been used as a conduit for churning out lies and vile propaganda against decent members of our society.” Mr Hamid congratulated the media for the level of professionalism so far displayed.

“The campaign team recognizes that the role of the media in ensuring free, fair and transparent elections is crucial,” he said. “From this period until the post-election period, the media would be required to continue to display this level of professionalism and neutrality,” he added.
