Election Monitor’s Mother Kidnapped

The mother of a Nigerian senator, in Ghana to monitor the December 7 election, has been abducted

The police in Rivers State confirmed the abduction of the mother of Senator Lee Maeba in the early hours of Thursday.

Maeba represents Rivers south east zone in the Senate.

Police spokesperson Rita Abbey told the News Agency of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Thursday that the senator‘s mother was kidnapped at 2 a.m. at her village, Luwa, in Khana Local Government of the state.

No group has claimed responsibility and no ransom demand has been made.

Police have started investigations into the incident, Abbey said.

A family source told NAN that Maeba is currently in Ghana as an observer to monitor elections.
