Dangbe West DCE calls for peaceful elections

New Ningo (G/A), Sep. 13, GNA – Mr Michael Adjowerh-Nortey, Dangbe West District Chief Executive (DCE), has called on Ghanaians to avoid unguarded utterances to reduce political tension and promote peace as the country prepared for Election 2008. He said as the nation entered another era of its democratisation, there was the need for the people to unite and sustain the peace they were enjoying.

Mr Adjowerh-Nortey made the call in an address read on his behalf at the end of a three-week Work Camp at New Ningo, near Prampram in the Greater Accra Region.

He reminded political parties that because they played a significant role in nation building, they ought to be tolerant and ensure peace before, during and after the elections. Mr Adjowerh-Nortey commended participants at the camp for helping the community in the building of 85,000 Ghana Cedis library and a post office.

He advised the youth to be law abiding and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Mr Joseph Quist, Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the Voluntary Work Camp Association, asked the people, especially school children to make good use of the library if completed. He called on women to be part of the decision making process and involve themselves in politics to enable them to effectively contribute to national development. The projects were initiated by Yikake Youth Association and funded by Voluntary Work Camp Association with support from the Dangbe West District Assembly.
