Parents urged to give proper training to their children

Aflao, Aug 6, GNA- Parents have been asked to give proper training to their children instead of shifting that role to teachers who are already overburdened with academic work. Mr Albert Zigah, Ketu-South Member of Parliament, made the call at the Eight Speech and Prize Giving Day of the Kekeli Preparatory Junior High School, under the theme “Quality Education: the role of the Private school Teacher in Ghana”, at Aflao on Tuesday. He urged parents to pay school fees on time and interact with teachers to enable them to ascertain problems of their children at school.

Mr Zigah challenged teachers to work harder to enable school children acquire knowledge and skill needed for the competitive labour market. He advised students to learn hard to enable them pass their examinations.

Mr Issack T D Abbey, a Chief Collector of Customs Excise and Preventive Service, at Aflao, called for the motivation of teachers to enable them to give off their best.

Mr Emmanuel Mawuli, Proprietor of school, said the population of the educational institution had increased from 70 students and four teachers in 1997, to 570 students and 31 teachers currently. He appealed to individuals and organisations to contribute to the development of the school.
