Ghanaians urged to avoid double registration – EC

Axim (W/R), Aug 1, GNA – The Nzema East Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr Moses Awade, has advised electorates in the area to ward against multiple registration in the ongoing nationwide limited voters’ registration exercise. He said anybody caught in the act would be arrested and prosecuted. Mr Awade gave the advice at the District Inter Party Advisory Committee (DIPAC) meeting at Axim to discus the registration exercise. It was attended by representatives of political parties from the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Convention Peoples Party (CPP). The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Joshua Ellimah and the Municipal Police Commander, ASP Dan Ohene-Djan, also attended meeting. Mr Awade assured the parties that the Electoral Commission had made the necessary equipment and personnel for the exercise ready to ensure its success. He called on political parties to send representatives to the registration centres but warned that they should not interfere in the exercise. Mr Awade advised them to see each other as brother and sister irrespective of their political affiliations.
