Mills to focus on vision of “Better Ghana”

Accra, June 16, GNA – The leader and presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. John Evans Atta Mills will focus on his vision of a “Better Ghana” when he appears at Wednesday’s Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA)-sponsored Evening Encounter with presidential candidates.

This would be on job creation, investing in people, building a strong economy, infrastructure expansion and managing the affairs of state, in an open, honest, truthful and transparent manner. A statement by Mr Koku Anyidoho, Head of Communications of the Mills Campaign, said the NDC leader would also speak to the issues of health, education, agriculture, energy, governance, fighting the drug menace, as well as how the NDC government he would be leader of would fight the crime wave that had hit the country.

“For the records, John Evans Atta Mills, has also committed himself to participating in two debates amongst the presidential candidates, to be organized by the IEA,” the statement said. The IEA has said the purpose of the “Encounter” was to provide a platform for aspiring Presidential candidates to educate the electorate on their vision and plans and provide strategies on how they intend to govern the country. According to the IEA, attendance is strictly by invitation. However, the programme, which is scheduled to start at 4.15 p.m. prompt, at the Alisa Hotel, North Ridge, would be telecast live on the national broadcaster, GTV and Joy FM, which are co-organizers of the event. 16 June 08
