Agona West NPP re-elects Obodai as Parliamentary Candidate

Agona Swedru (C/R), May 4, GNA – Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, deputy Central Regional Minister and incumbent Member of Parliament for Agona West has been re-elected to contest the seat in the 2008 elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

He polled 63 of 116 votes cast to beat Mr Abeiku Dickson, Special Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, who had 51 votes and Mr Ebenezer Quarshie, a tutor at Apam Senior High School, who got only one vote. The election was supervised by Mr Kwame Amoah, Agona West Municipal Electoral Officer.

Addressing the delegates, Mr Danquah Smith, Central Regional chairman of the NPP, called on Party functionaries in the constituency to bury their differences and work harder towards victory in the 2008 elections.

He urged NPP members in the area to propagate good policies and programmes of the government to the masses for them to vote massively for the Party.

Mr Smith advised supporters of Mr Obodai and the other two contestants to foster unity and cooperation in order to retain the seat. Mr Obodai expressed appreciation to the delegates for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work hard to retain the seat. He called on the losing contestants to rally around him for victory.
