Nyinahin police arrests fake soldier

Nyinahin (Ash), April 4, GNA – The Nyinahin Police have arrested a 25-year-old unemployed who has been posing as a soldier. Ofori Amanfo is alleged to have posed as a military officer and collected sums of money from saw millers and chainsaw operators in the area.

Police Superintendent Samuel Alordey told the Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin that Amanfo was arrested by one of the saw millers after he had collected 50 Ghana cedis from him.

During interrogation the suspect could not produce any identity card to confirm his claim as a soldier. Mr Alordey said the suspect mentioned Mr James Derrick, a Forestry Technical Officer in the district, as the one who instructed him to arrest chainsaw operators in the area but Mr Derrick was invited, he denied knowing him.
