Adaklu-Kodzobi makes African-American Development Queen

Adaklu Kodzobi(V/R), April 3, GNA – A 68-year-old African American educationist, Mrs Alice Gainer, was enstooled Development Queen of Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu Anyigbe district of the Volta Region on Wednesday.

She was enstooled under the name; Mama Nyuiemedi I, Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of the Community said Mrs Gainer was very instrumental in mobilizing the Fundamental Baptist Fellowship Association (FBFA); a US based Christian organization to raise funds for the construction of a 20-seater water closet toilet initiated by the community.

He said FBFA has so far donated an amount of 5,000 Ghana cedis towards the project estimated to cost 35,000 Ghana cedis while the community was providing communal labour. Togbe Dzegblade appealed to citizens of the area “to take their destiny into their own hands” and not to look up to the government alone for all their development.

Mama Nyuiemedi thanked the people for bestowing the honour on her and assured them of her commitment to eradicate poverty among women in the community as she pursued the general development of the community. She implored parents to send their children to school as “the surest way to eradicate poverty”. Dr Allen McFallen, President of FBFA who led a delegation of 18 members of the Association to work on the project lauded the people for their communal spirit.

He said the Association had plans to undertake more projects in the community including a clinic and a computer laboratory. Dr McFallen on behalf of the association donated 400 dollars to the community’s basic school to be used in sewing school uniforms for needy pupils of the school and 200 dollars as morale booster to teachers of the school. The association also offered free medical services to members of the community.
