6 illegal miners grabbed at Nkawkaw

THE EASTERN Regional Police Command has arrested three Chinese and three Ghanaians supposed to be illegal miners at Denkyira, a village near Nkawkaw in the region.

The operation, led by the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander, Superintendent Richardson Kumekor, led in the retrieval of four excavators, two pump action guns, over 60 cartridges and three pumping machines from the galamsey (illegal mining) site.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that the Regional Rapid Deployment Force, led by Superintendent Richardson Kumekor, conducted a dawn swoop at Denkyira and arrested six suspects.

The suspects as gathered, will soon be arraigned before court for flouting the country’s mining laws.
