370 million-cedi school block inaugurated at Asubingya

Asubingya (B/A) July 1, GNA – Mr Yaw Adjei-Duffour, Deputy Brong Ahafo Regional Minister has commissioned a 370 million-cedi classroom block for Asubingya Primary School in Techiman. The block that comprise a library; office; store and a toilet facility was financed by the Ghana Education Trust Fund and HIPC funds. Mr Adjei-Duffour said Government was spending over 16 billion cedis to up- grade the Asuogyaman Senior Secondary School.

He tasked Parent Teacher Associations and School Management Committees to support teachers posted to the remote areas to facilitate quality education to meet the manpower needs of the Region. Mr Isaac Osei-Antwi, Municipal Chief Executive, said the Assembly had spent 130 million cedis as scholarships to brilliant but needy students.

He called for concerted efforts to stem the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Municipality.

Miss Colidia Mary Boakye-Yiadom, Municipal Director of Education, expressed gratitude that for a period of one year Government had allocated 60 million cedis to support educational activities in the Municipality.

Nana Fosu Gyeabour, Asubingyahene who presided over the function, appealed to the Municipal authorities to rehabilitate the Asubingya-Kokoago and Issah Krom roads and connect the area to the national electricity grid.
