34 ‘freed’ Killers of Major Mahama rearrested

Thirty-Four (34) suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of the Major Maxwell Adam Mahama, who were discharged by a Cape Coast District Court presided over by Rita Amoaninwah Edusah have been rearrested.

Police Prosecutors led by DSP George Amegah had prayed the court to discharge the accused persons since the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Police headquarters in Accra had taken over case.

They subsequently granted the request which saw all suspects being transferred to Accra and were immediately taken into custody for investigators to build a single docket on the matter.

More than 60 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the incident with the latest being 7 remanded by an Accra Central District Court including; Akwasi Baah, Solomon Sackey, Kwame Agyei, Joseph Appiah Kubi (aka Kum Dede), Akosua Takyiwaa (aka Maabono), Esther Dauda (aka Asha) and Michael Kumah (aka Kojo Anim) to reappear on later date

All suspects have been provisionally charged with two counts of murder contrary to section 46 of the criminal code and other offences act of 1960, Act 29 as well as conspiracy to commit crime to wit murder: contrary to section 23(1) and 46 of the criminal and other offences act 1960 (Act 29).
