3 injured over chieftaincy clashes in BA

Three people have been injured after clashes ensued at a meeting to install the paramount chief of Hwediem, a community in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Joy News’ Fred Smith reports that since Monday July 22, there have been efforts to install the paramount chief of the community, but disagreements between the Queen Mother and Abusuapanyin (Head of Family) have stalled the process.

Reports say both the Queen Mother and the Abusuapanyin are claiming the candidates they have presented for the stool must be accepted – causing a stalemate in the installation process.

The stalemate, however, came to a head Wednesday as supporters of the two factions clashed – resulting in the injuries.
