27-year-old man dies in a pool

A 27-year-oldman has drowned in a swimming pool at Shekinnah Lodge Hotel near Abesim in the Sunyani Municipality.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Christopher Tawiah, Brong-Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) told Ghana News Agency in Sunyani that on January 19, one Kofi Nelson, a taxi driver reported at the Regional Police headquarters about the incident.

ASP Tawiah said the deceased, Eric Djadatey went to the hotel at 1330 hours with friends to have fun but met his death.

He said his friends drew the attention of the pool attendants when they noticed he had stayed in the pool for a long time.

The Regional Police PRO said a pool attendant went to the rescue of Djadatey and rushed him to the Regional Hospital for treatment but died on arrival with blood oozing from his nostrils.

ASP Tawiah said the Police had since gone to the Hospital to inspect the body which had been deposited at the mortuary pending autopsy.
