2012 elections: Results will be faster than before – Kanga

Immediate past Deputy Chairman for the Electoral Commission, David Adenze Kanga expects the outcome of December’s general elections to be swifter, than previously organized ones.

According to Mr. Kanga, the Commission has already started the process to fast track results of polls from all districts soon after votes have been counted.

Commenting on key lessons the EC can learn from its counterpart in the US as regards the speedily release of results of polls, Mr. Kanga said the Commission currently has the connectivity to electronically transmit the results from all districts to its Headquarters in Accra.

He said this is an indication of the Commission’s determination to deliver the results of voting “far more speedily than we’ve ever gone because now the Commission has all the electronic connectivity and I think we are on track”.

Nonetheless, the former Deputy EC Boss called for support for the Commission to enable it improve upon its operations adding, “the Commission needs support for a lot of things that cannot be done with our internal resources”.
